Abstract processes

Abstract processes, also called public processes, describe the interaction of a private process with other processes. Here, the private subprocesses are presented with all details. The contents of the abstract process with which the private process interacts are not displayed. The representation is therefore abstract.

Create abstract process

Instruction:

  1. Open the private BPMN diagram in the WebModeller

  2. From the model overview, drag and drop another BPMN diagram with which the currently opened diagram should interact into the opened BPMN diagram:

  3. When the diagram is displayed open, click the Hide details button to collapse the diagram:

Result:

The abstract process is displayed as a pool under the diagram. You can connect the processes by dragging and dropping a connector between the pools with the Shift key pressed.

In the properties of the diagram, the process type is displayed under BPMN | Process Type. Here you can also set the process type manually:

Move pools

You can move the pools in an abstract process like swimlanes using the arrow keys.
