Activities

Activities represent tasks in a BPMN diagram. Depending on the object for which you have created the BPMN diagram, different activity shapes are available for selection. In BPMN diagrams, activities can be processes, subprocesses and tasks that are processed within a process.

Description

Process (BPMN) shapes can be created in BPMN diagrams for process groups. Process (BPMN) shapes map a process and display the name of the process. At BPMN shapes you can create a BPMN diagram for the process directly via the context sensitive menu or open an already created one. The in the shape indicates that a BPMN diagram is already present (and collapsed).

You can create subprocess shapes in BPMN diagrams for process groups, processes and subprocesses. Subprocess shapes map a subprocess and display the name of the subprocess. At subprocess shapes you can create a BPMN diagram for the subprocess directly via the context-sensitive menu or open an already created one. The in the shape indicates that a BPMN diagram is already present (and collapsed).

You can create task (BPMN) shapes in BPMN diagrams for processes and subprocesses. Task (BPMN) shapes map a task and display the name of the task.

Note: For tasks, other types are available in the drawing palette and via the context-sensitive menu. These are described under Typing an activity.
