External documents:

In documents, you can store files that are located outside of Aeneis in the Filename property. You can integrate these files into Aeneis in various ways.

Save as copy

You can upload the file (e.g. a PDF document) to Aeneis and save it there as a copy. If content in the file changes, then the file must be re-uploaded/replaced in Aeneis to make the changes visible there. You and other users with appropriate rights can open the file via Aeneis. When opened, a local copy is created and downloaded.

Attention: By default, files up to a maximum of 20 MB can be uploaded in Aeneis. The maximum file size can be adjusted manually, see chapter Database object and properties.

Specify path:

If the file (e.g. a PDF document) is located in a directory on a network drive or on the Internet, you can enter the path to the file. This way, only the file is referenced and when opened via Aeneis, the centrally stored file is opened directly. If contents in the file change, nothing needs to be adjusted in Aeneis.

Requirements: To open the file, the user must have access to the directory.

Note: You can only access files that are stored on a network drive if Aeneis is operated on-premise.

Note: The path to the directory must be specified as the entire path to the file. The path root is always the computer where the file is located. Example: X:\docs\manual.pdf

Attention: For security reasons, it is not possible to create valid references to local files. Example: C:\docs\manual.pdf

Tip: Use a document management system to store your files and link them to the respective URL in Aeneis.
