Paragraph (report component)

The report component type Paragraph reports the contents of attributes of reported objects as a simple paragraph. The output is similar to the direct configuration of the attributes.

Compared to the direct configuration of attributes (for example, under a view), the Paragraph component is preferable if

  • the reported attributes from the schema are to be determined using the attribute Visible in report

  • the generated heading is to be changed

  • the formatting of the section is to be changed

  • alternative texts are to be used for empty attribute contents

Configuration:

Property

Description

Reported objects

This shows which queries or attributes are configured under the paragraph that are used to determine the reported objects. You also have the option here to reference or create queries or attributes using the text box or the buttons to the right of the text box.

If no reported objects are defined, the context object is used.

Alternative text

Define here a text that will be displayed when no objects are reported.

Report empty attributes

This property is used to output the heading (if enabled) and the alternative text if an attribute has no set value or a query returns no result.

Show as table

If this option is enabled, all contents will be reported as one table with the attribute name in the first column and the content in the second column.

Content

This shows which queries or attributes are configured under the paragraph that will be evaluated as content in the Portal. You also have the option here to reference or create queries or attributes using the text box or the buttons to the right of the text box.

If no content is configured, the attributes that are marked in the schema with Visible in report are reported. This functionality allows automatic adjustment of report contents to schema changes and avoids explicit configuration of attributes in reports.

Column widths

If the section is reported as a table, you can define the column widths here either in percent or in cm.

See also: How to enter column widths in the Enter String Array dialog is described under Enter column widths.

Display

Categories can be referenced under this attribute. This can limit the visibility / execution.

Most application scenarios require category and access control related visibility.

The logic of the evaluation is as follows:

  1. If at least one category is specified, the object must be an instance of that category. Otherwise, no evaluation of the category are carried out

  2. If at least one user group is specified, the current user must be a member of at least one of these user groups

  3. If at least one Access Control List is specified, the user must have the View permission in the Access Control List

  4. If at least one condition component is specified, at least one condition must apply.

If this logic is not sufficient, a differentiated logic can be configured via the condition components.

Note: If no content is configured under in a paragraph, all attributes of the evaluated object are reported.
