Model inputs/outputs graphically
Requirements:
The object you want to model as input/output for the shape is created in the model overview.
The input/output is displayed in the diagram only if the following properties are configured as follows:
-
In the properties of the shape the property Show inputs and outputs is activated
-
In the properties of the database the property Show parameter is disabled
Instruction:
-
Open the BPMN diagram in the WebModeller
-
Depending on whether you want to specify the object as both input and output, or just one of the two, drag and drop the input/output object to a specific position at the shape, as described in the following table. When you drag an object from the model overview onto the shape, it is created as an input/output object. If you drag an existing input/output object of a shape onto another shape, it will be referenced as an input/output object:
Create input/output
Procedure
Example
Create object as input AND output
Drag and drop the object to the center of the shape
Create object as input
Drag and drop the object onto the left part of the shape.
An arrow indicates that the object is created as input.
Create object as output
Drag and drop the object onto the right part of the shape.
An arrow indicates that the object is created as output.
To change an object that was created as input and output afterwards as input only or output only, you can remove the redundant input or output object in the properties or in the properties dialog for inputs/outputs. You can open the properties dialog for inputs/outputs by clicking on the detail icon Input/Output, Input or Output at the shape.
The defined inputs and outputs are displayed and can be edited in the properties of the shape and in the properties dialog for inputs/outputs.
If an output is defined as input in other shapes, you can see in the WebModeller via the detail icon at the output in which shapes this occurs as input.
